Frequently Asked Questions
When did you open?
December 11, 2025
Are you hiring?
Unless you see something on the front page – no.
What do you sell?
Books, records, CDs, Cassettes, Incense, Burners, Stickers, Patches, Catfight Coffee, Posters, Tee Shirts, Buttons, Tarot Cards, Puzzles and other odds and ends.
What kinds of books do you carry?
Dark Romance, Horror, off the wall contemporary romance, anarchist and ani-war books and zines are our primary sections. We also carry a bit of occult, classics, weird cookbooks and music centric titles.
What kinds of music do you carry?
We focus on punk, grunge, alternative and metal. We also carry a small amount of outlaw/western music and a few off the wall titles.
Do you buy used books or records?
We accept donations but do not buy used books. As for records, again we accept donations and occasionally we are willing to buy, but we do not offer top dollar (quite to the contrary we are up front about ripping you off).
Can you order something for me?
Due to the amount of damaged product, we receive in shipping (it’s a lot), we don’t really offer doing special orders anymore. That said, if you’re looking for something specific feel free to let us know. We’re always happy to consider it when we’re placing our regular inventory orders.
Do you have a children’s section / Can children come in?
We do not carry children’s books. At all (there is a children’s bookstore literally on the other side of the motel behind us Paper Bark Birch).
Children are allowed in Phat Tracks as long as they are supervised by an adult. Please understand, however, that we are not a kid-friendly store. Your child may see or hear profanity, explicit lyrics, mature book covers and titles, political or religious material, artwork, merchandise, or conversations that you may not consider appropriate for them.
We aren’t going to change the music, hide merchandise, or alter the store because a child is present. You know your kid better than we do; use your judgment.
Can I sell my book / get my book stocked at Phat Tracks?
Maybe. At a bare minimum, your book needs to fit Phat Tracks and the kind of books we carry.
If you think it belongs on our shelves, you’re welcome to tell us about it. We’ll take a look and decide whether it’s something we think we can sell. Please understand that shelf space is limited, and we don’t accept every book we’re offered.
Do you sell handmade/local items on consignment?
No. We do not accept handmade goods, artwork, crafts, or other merchandise on consignment.
We know there are a lot of talented local makers, but consignment is a surprising amount of administrative work, and I’m much lazier than you give me credit for.
